Son Yambu’s debut album 'La Maravilla' was released to rave reviews (**** Songlines, The Evening Standard) at the end of 2012.
Recorded entirely in London ‘La Maravilla’ honours the very best of original and classic Cuban Son, the music considered by many to be the ‘soul of Cuba’.
With its mix of original compositions and forgotten gems, Son Yambu maintain the pure tradition of son's Eastern Cuba roots, featuring musicians from Santiago De Cuba and specially commissioned original songs from composers living in the city today.
"La Maravilla sees the band playing son Cubano much as they would in Santiago De Cuba, all spicy rhythms and tight horns…"
David Honigman, Financial Times, 15 September 2012.
"Son Yambu are burning up the dance floors with some of the best ‘son’ outside Cuba."
La Maravilla CD review: Dave Willetts, Cuba Si, Nov 2012.
